Petra, of Raqmu as the natives called it is the ancient capital of the Nabateans. Carved from the mountainsides the “Treasury” as they call it is an absolutely stunning sight. Nobody knows what the buildings were actually used for though most archeologists think they were tombs. These types of structures are found in Jordan and deep into Saudi Arabia as the incense routes brought great wealth to this ancient kingdom. so neat.
